Creative Director

Zipie is looking for a game-changing Creative Director who can grow young talent, inspire the entire team, foster a healthy work culture and inject innovative thinking into every project.

Zipie’s Creative Director is responsible for the overall guidance and supervision of the agency’s creative product. The Creative Director interfaces between the client, the account executive and the creative department and the agency as a whole. The Creative Director is responsible for taking strategic marketing plans and interpreting them into big ideas and manages the overall creative direction of Zipie and our clients, playing the pivotal role in driving the creative direction of projects, concepts and business objectives.

The Creative Director is responsible for providing the kind of oversight that will lead projects into new creative territories. They are a strong strategic thinker ready to be hands-on during all phases of a project from concept to execution.

Most of all, the Creative Director should have a vision about the importance of the creative product to the future success of the agency, how that vision aligns with the overall vision of the agency and is an essential member of the agency’s leadership team.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Directs the creative product at the agency and strives for excellence in everything from concept, strategy and completion of every creative project
  • Build and maintain stellar working relationships with clients, agency leadership and cross-functional agency teams
  • Manage the direction of projects and clearly present strategic and creative direction to the team and client
  • Set the creative vision for projects and ensures effective creative development and executional brilliance
  • Oversee and work with teams to develop a wide range of outstanding creative concepts and ideas to ensure the creative execution supports brand strategy
  • Provide creative leadership by setting high creative standards for their group/team and deliver against agency creative standards
  • Collaborate with strategic and account leads to help set insightful direction for brands and clients
  • Lead, develop, mentor and inspire their team to create smart and “radically different” work
  • Provide guidance and mentorship regarding career paths and development for their direct reports
  • Participate in new business pitches and represent our creative capabilities
  • Collaborates with account executives to determine client objectives
  • Remain current on industry trends, pop culture, efficiency techniques and technology
  • Translates marketing objectives into clear creative strategies
  • Assists the leadership team in overseeing profitability, deliverables, timelines and budgets
  • Works closely with account services to solve marketing problems through smart, well-designed advertising
  • Manages the creative department
  • Attends and manages creative input meetings to develop creative strategies and implements all creative requirements including copy, layout, illustrations, final art and photography
  • Confirms client review and delivery schedules with account executive and works with traffic manager to assign jobs to creative team in order to flawlessly meet deadlines
  • Oversees creative solutions and presents those to stakeholders for internal approval in kickoff meetings

Qualifications and Skills

  • 10 years of industry experience in a well-established, creative role with a proven track record of agency success
  • 4 years in creative leadership role
  • Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, graphic design, communication or equivalent education or experience
  • Knowledge of marketing, all forms of advertising and strategy, especially with digital experiences, with proven conceptual and design abilities
  • Agency experience working across all channels
  • Strong creative portfolio highlighting relevant/category experience
  • Solid verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to all levels of clients
  • Experience working with large teams in client-facing role
  • Excellent written and presentation skills
  • Ability to gracefully handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
